Description

Guild Hall in the Hamptons is set to host a captivating art event in conjunction with the exhibition "A Creative Retreat – Portraits of Artists."

This event will feature a thought-provoking conversation centered around the acclaimed photographer Mark Mann's remarkable project, "Movement At The Still Point." Mann, celebrated for his ability to capture the essence of movement and energy through his lens, will be joined by Anthony Madonna, Guild Hall's Director of Learning + New Works, Klassic Carella, a talented Flexn Dancer, and Jose Sebastian, the founder and artistic director of the Hamptons Dance Project.

"Movement At The Still Point" is a collection of images that pays homage to Mann's hero, Irving Penn. In this project, Mann installed a backdrop of painterly muslin in his vast West Side studio, inviting dancers from various genres to perform and share their passion for their art form in this stark environment. The result is a testament to the emotional and physical power of each dancer, captured in both stillness and motion, showcasing the dynamism and energy of the mediums of dance and photography.

The conversation during this art event in the Hamptons promises to delve into the creative process behind "Movement At The Still Point," exploring the collaboration between the artist and the dancers, as well as the unique challenges and inspirations that come with creating and working on the East End of Long Island. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the collection, published by Rizzoli International Publications, and participate in a book signing with Mark Mann and the featured artists directly after the program.
